This past Saturday we had the pleasure to host a Photo Expedition led by photographer and Olympus Visionary Trailblazer Frank Smith to one of our favorite local photo destinations – the picturesque town of Jim Thorpe.
The whole crew, geared up and ready to head out!
Our day started with a private tour of The Old Jail Museum. Our students had unlimited access and plenty of time to create some wonderful photos. With Halloween right around the corner, this is an amazing place to visit.
Next on the agenda: ride the rails and take in all the autumn colors along the train tracks! The train car was perfect for photographers, everyone had the freedom to move around and take photos from both sides of the car.
Here's a little time-lapse video of the train ride that we shot with a GoPro action camera:
After the one hour train ride, it was time for lunch. Several of the instructors and students ventured out to Molly Maguires Pub & Steakhouse to rest up for some more photo fun. Then we finished our day by visiting the local mansions and some abandoned train cars.
We'd like to thank all the students who attended, and all the staff from Olympus who made this event possible. And if you haven’t been to Jim Thorpe before, right now’s a perfect time to visit. Take a ride on the steam train, and capture some amazing fall photos for yourself!
