Film Photo Workshop Day

From Shoot to Print: A Complete Film Photography Experience

Saturday, October 3 - Jump into film photography with this immersive, hands-on workshop that takes you through the complete process from camera to print in a single day! Whether you're drawn to film's unique aesthetic or ready to slow down and be more intentional with your photography, this workshop combines technical learning with creative exploration in a fun, social setting.

You'll start with the fundamentals in our classroom. We'll cover film exposure basics, common pitfalls to avoid, and composition techniques that help you visualize great photos before you even click the shutter. Then we'll venture out to Jordan Creek Park with live demos and personalized guidance as you photograph fall colors, moving water, and a beautiful forest location.

We'll return to Dan's where we'll bring your film into our professional photo lab. You'll see  photos come to life as we develop, scan, and print your work. Then we'll take a quick break for lunch, followed by a supportive group review session to help you grow as a photographer. You'll get to see each other's pictures, get valuable feedback on your own images, and see how different photographers approached the same scenes.

Everything you need is included

  • Roll of film: choose color, black & white, or a special third option!
  • Camera rental available for $10 if you don't have a film camera yet
  • Professional instruction from experienced film photographers
  • Complete processing service: develop, scan, and print your entire roll
  • Prints to take home as lasting memories of your film photography journey

Which Film to Pick?

We're assuming  most of you are shooting 35mm, just let us know if you'd like 120 instead.

Kodak Ultramax 400

Kodak Ultramax 400: Our most popular & versatile color negative film. With fine grain, vivid color saturation, sharp detail, and consistent color reproduction, Ultramax 400 consistenly gives us great results.

Ilford XP2: A fine-grained black and white film that can be processed in color chemistry (C-41), making it versatile and easy to get processed anywhere. Because it uses color chemistry, we'll be able to develop it the same day of our workshop.

Harman Phoenix II

Harman Phoenix II - A new experimental ISO 200 film, with more shadow range than the original Phoenix film. It features vibrant colors with a soft magenta undertone, and a distinct grain structure. It's a little more challenging to work with, try this one if you're looking for something out of the ordinary!

Jordan Creek Park

For our Photo Walk we'll head Jordan Creek Park, a great outdoor location just a few minutes from Dan's.
