The Next Chapter in Dan's Camera City history
This July, Dan’s Camera City begins an exciting new chapter under new independent ownership. After 50 years, the owners of Dan's Camera City are retiring and passing the business to the team behind CameraMall in Ann Arbor, Michigan, who, alongside the longtime Dan’s staff, are committed to preserving the trusted service, expert advice, and community legacy customers have known for generations, while investing in the store's future.

What's Changing:
- Modernized point of sale systems
- Updated Website Layout
- Expanded inventory and faster product availability
Staff you're familiar with will be managing the store and day-to-day operations to fill Kevin & Mike's shoes:
- Manny is now the Director of Retail Operations
- Heather is now the Retail Manager
- Steve M. is now the Retail Supervisor
- Mark is now the Director of Imaging Services & Facilities
- Erika is now the Lab Manager
The Store will be Closed July 7 - July 9
To help complete this transition, the store will be temporarily closed Tuesday, July 7 to Thursday, July 9 while we upgrade our infrastructure and implement new systems.
Pick-up for completed existing orders will be available: Tuesday 7/7, Wednesday 7/8, and Thursday 7/9 from 10:00am – 1:00pm.

A Note From Kevin & Mike
Dan Poresky founded Dan’s Camera City in 1977. We purchased the business from Dan when he retired in 2003. We did so to ensure Dan’s remained Dan’s in every aspect. We are filled with tremendous gratitude to our staff and customers, who have allowed us to be successful doing what we love. We cannot thank you enough.
As we look to the future, we have found an opportunity to ensure Dan’s Camera City is well positioned to prosper for another 50 years. The staff you know and trust will continue to manage Dan’s and be here for your needs. They will now be supported by a team that has long since been in the photo industry and brings new resources to the business. Their goal is the same as ours, to keep your experience at Dan’s exceptional.
Introducing the New Owners
Dan's Camera City is proud to welcome its new owners, Craig Kufta and Desmond Rio. Craig is a second-generation camera store owner, carrying on a family tradition rooted in photography and customer service. In 2015, he partnered with Desmond to co-found CameraMall while Desmond was attending the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. Together, they grew the business from a small startup into a successful independent camera retailer and have since expanded to operate CameraMall and Woodward Camera in Michigan, as well as Art's Cameras Plus in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
Throughout that time, they have focused on exceptional customer service, modern gear, and creating welcoming spaces where photographers can learn, create, and connect. They believe that local camera stores are more than places to buy equipment—they are important community resources that help foster creativity, preserve memories, and support photographers of all experience levels.
When the opportunity arose to continue the legacy of Dan's Camera City, they saw a chance to invest in a business that shares those same values. Their commitment is to support the talented Dan's team, continue providing the expertise and service customers have come to expect, and ensure that Dan's remains a trusted destination for photographers for years to come.
