Donald Stahl from Lehigh Parkway Elementary School

Donald Stahl from Lehigh Parkway Elementary School

We’ve recognized Donald Stahl for his program “I Am On a Bookshelf.” This program has inspired almost 100 authors at Lehigh Parkway Elementary School to write, illustrate and publish their own novels. For the culmination, students unveil their work during a “Meet the Authors” event at Barnes & Noble where they present their books to family, friends, and customers.

Nazareth Area Middle School’s Greenpower Electric Car Initiative

The Nazareth Area Middle School’s Greenpower Electric Car Initiative is student-driven and is comprised of 8th-grade students who design, build and solicit sponsorships of their electric race cars. Teachers and administrators dedicate many hours beyond the school day to make the program a success. The highlight of the program is the students going to the national competition in Huntsville, Alabama.

Palmerton Area High School’s Blue Bomber Marching Band

Palmerton Area High School’s Blue Bomber Marching Band

Palmerton Area High School’s Blue Bomber Marching Band was cut from the school’s program by a previous administration. The current administration recognized the benefit of the program and reinstated it. In just four years Director Tom Heinick has worked hard and grown the program to 50 members who are once again representing the school in the community and even performed in Disney World.

George Wolf Elementary

The Second Harvest program at George Wolf happens weekly thanks to 7 dedicated staff that fill approximately 25 backpacks a week for needy students and families. The Physical Education teacher, Tammy Vajda is responsible for spearheading this initiative. She was the initial contact with Second Harvest, created space for the monthly delivery of food in her equipment room and secured over 30 backpacks for the students so the food could be transported every Friday.

Jamie Horvath from Siegfried Elementary

Jamie Horvath from Siegfried Elementary

Jamie Horvath from Siegfried Elementary in Northampton teaches 3rd-grade students to write code for small robots to tell stories through. Those students then taught their teachers how to code during a faculty meeting. Great use of tech and getting students and teachers to collaborate!‬

All of our All-Stars are recognized at a Lehigh Valley Phantoms game and interviewed live on SECTV to share the program’s success. Our partners, iHeart Media, the LV Phantoms and SECTV help us promote their wonderful work.
