2020 Phantoms VirtualTeddyBearToss 470x330

with the Lehigh Valley Phantoms

The Lehigh Valley Phantoms are taking their annual Teddy Bear Toss VIRTUAL this year! Presented by Dan’s Camera City, this fan-favorite event draws a significant number of teddy bear and stuffed animal donations each December to be distributed to Lehigh Valley children served by Valley Youth House.

Watch the 2019 Teddy Bear Toss!

Over the past six seasons, Phantoms fans have donated more than 30,800 teddy bears and stuffed animals, and we can’t stop there!

While we are unable to gather at a game and throw the stuffed animals onto the ice like we usually do, the needs in our community remain, if not have grown tremendously with the challenges this year has brought. Please consider supporting this cause virtually – your generosity can help make a difference.

About our charity:
Valley Youth House

Building Foundations, Shaping Futures

Valley Youth House does more than just provide a home for Pennsylvania’s vulnerable, abused, and homeless youth.  We partner with thousands of individuals each year to build a solid foundation for young people and their families.  With dedicated street outreach, housing, counseling, skills training, health, prevention, and intervention services, we empower resilient young people in establishing promising futures.

Whatever the situation, Valley Youth House is here to help! As an essential, life-sustaining non-profit organization, the doors of Valley Youth House have remained open through this life-altering pandemic to help youth and families who need our services. Now more than ever, young people and families need emergency supplies, life skills training, housing, and therapeutic support.

At Valley Youth House, we are taking care of vulnerable youth and families, and as an essential life-sustaining business, our doors remain open. Now more than ever, homeless young people and families need emergency supplies, housing, and therapeutic support. Our staff are on the front lines of service delivery, and we are in need of additional resources to support our long term needs.

At Valley Youth House, we are taking care of vulnerable young people and families, as well as our dedicated staff who work with them every day. As an essential life-sustaining business, our shelters and residential sites are still open and serving youth, and we are continuing to connect with clients virtually to assure their safety and wellbeing and to provide therapeutic support and needed resources. Like many of you, we are forecasting various scenarios based on how long this pandemic will impact us. We know one thing for sure – youth and families still need our help, families still need counseling, housing and support, and there are many people like you who care for others and want to help.

At Valley Youth House, we do more than just provide a home for vulnerable, abused and homeless youth; we partner with thousands of individuals to build a solid foundation for young people and their families.

#CouchesDontCount® is meant to raise awareness for the disproportionate rate of young people experiencing homelessness that are “couch surfing”, or staying with friends or acquaintances rather than sleeping unsheltered. Some studies have suggested as high as 64% of youth experiencing homelessness are “couch surfing” as means of shelter.

The message is clear: #CouchesDontCount® as stable housing for any young person experiencing homelessness. More can and should be done to support these young people in finding resources, shelter, and transitional housing, with the ultimate goal of achieving independence & stability.
